Who Killed Jacob Marley?

"Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail."

 

That’s what Charles Dickens wrote at the very start of his famous ghost story, ‘A Christmas Carol’. Remember – Scrooge was haunted by his dead business partner, Jacob Marley. Dickens doesn’t mention how he died. But what if Marley was murdered? And most of all – whodunnit?
