Venue

Biddenden’s Village Hall was built in 1910. It originally consisted of a Hall, Billiard Room, Card Room and Rifle Range. Ladies were only allowed to use the rooms on two afternoons a week. During the 1914-18 war it was used as a 10-bed hospital for convalescing
Belgian soldiers. In WWII the hall was used as classrooms for evacuee girls and also to host dances for US airmen. By the 1950s, 26 different organisations were holding meetings and activities in the hall – so in 1962, plans were developed and an appeal to raise £24,000 for a new hall was launched. The New Hall opened in 1965.
